What would the Philippines be like if the spanish had stayed? Empty What would the Philippines be like if the spanish had stayed?

Supposing the spanish hadn't left and the US had never had any involvement with the Philippines, and let's say that they became independent a few decades ago, what do you think it would be like now? Would it be like a latin american country? Would it be like Paraguay in that they speak 2 languages (spanish plus a native language)?
